Pastor Lynette R. Chapman

Pastor Lynette R. Chapman

Welcome to Trinity online! In June, the people of Trinity called me to be their new pastor. I look forward to getting to know everyone – and to welcoming new people to Trinity’s faith community as well. I invite anyone to come and worship with us on any Sunday morning, hearing the Word of God for your life and celebrating the grace of Jesus Christ. The people of Trinity stand ready to welcome you to worship, to service, to learning, and to sharing God’s love in Quakertown.

About Pastor Chapman:
  • Attended Penn State University earning BS in Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology (to be rural community developer)
  • Graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg 1999
  • Ordained April 2000, Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod
  • Married to Rev. Paul E. Chapman, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spinnerstown, PA

I am a church re-imaginer who wants to help the 21st century church live out its mission to speak the gospel of Jesus into hearts and lives. I like tradition and innovation, great old hymns and a kickin’ bass line. I like icons and video clips, contemplation and celebration. I think people grow in faith when they spend more time in prayer and more time in Bible study. Most importantly, I love Jesus and feel God’s care and the Spirit’s activity in my life daily. I have an adopted daughter, Raylynn, (9 years old) and an amazing husband, Paul. We’ve been married 14 years and still like being together :). My parents, brother, and sister-in-law live in the Allentown area, so we see them fairly often. We have three cats – all rescues – and a comfortable 111-year-old row home in Perkasie, PA. I like the Chicago blues and Russian church music, NPR, books (Jane Austen and historical thrillers!), crime dramas, reality television, being outdoors, and spending time with my family and friends.

Here’s what I love in Ministry:
  • Preaching: I enjoy preaching and am comfortable using many different approaches and styles to convey the beauty of God’s Word in such a way as to inspire faith, encourage discipleship, and challenge perspectives.
  • Relating to People; Creating a Warm, Nurturing Faith Environment: I like people – all sorts of people – and have been described as a warm person with a slightly skewed sense of humor. I enjoy conversing with elders and young children, I like holding newborn babies and am privileged to hold the hands of the dying. I like to learn peoples’ stories, find out what makes them who they uniquely are. I find challenge in helping people connect with God and their purpose in God’s kingdom.
  • Innovation in Worship: Although I can bow with the best, I am at heart an eclectic when it comes to worship. I like the mix of old and new, ancient and modern. I like contemplative moments and grunge beats. I especially like being innovative in worship – in such a way as it speaks to the people in that context more deeply, drawing them closer into an encounter with the holy God.
